Pancakes, books and women
The month of March is a pretty meaningful one for us. Besides the great gift of more daylight, March is all about books and women. World Book Day this Thursday; International Women’s Day on Friday; Mother’s Day on Sunday and World Poetry Day on March 21st.
Where The Pancakes Are was inspired by one of the greatest children’s’ books of all times, Where The Wild Things Are. It tells the story of a boy called Max who rebels and sets off for wild adventures but in the end yearns to come home to (his mothers’) love and warming food. Written in 1963 by Maurice Sendak, it has sold 20 million copies worldwide; it has been turned into a live-action feature film; and, it is known to be a desirable tattoo design too!
To celebrate World Book Day and International Women’s Day, we will be donating 1£ for every customer who dines with us on both days to the Malala Fund raising awareness and funds for Malala’s fight for girls’ education everywhere. It’s a small gesture to a giant woman and a very worthy cause.
On Mother’s Day, it’s our annual tradition to treat every mother or grandmother to a complimentary mimosa. If you haven’t made plans yet, do join us for what is always a very happy Sunday in March.
Last but not least, for Poetry Day on 21st of March, there will be a short poem competition for rhymes starting with “Where..” with a chance to win a pancake experience for 2. Keep an eye out on our socials!
